What type of kangaroo court is this? They send the police to search for him at the ex-wife’s, evidently she’s providing alibis for him. Why did she tell them when he’ll be back instead of just saying he doesn’t live there anymore? Godamnit woman, think! You tell them you have knowledge of his plans, then guess what - they keep coming to you. You want your kids to see the police coming round asking for their dad again?

Now they’re searching for him. I think it is safe to say at this point that he never wants this to come to trial for obvious reasons. Instead he’s stringing this out as long as he can to support his “glacially slow” argument. I’m guessing Novosel told him this could take 6 years and he’s going with that.

All this strong talk about criminal defendants and how he can’t wait for the courts to bring him justice. He’s hiding and letting his wife answer for him. What a coward.

The Memorial and my thoughts.

no matter what opinions you may have, the memorial is very important to us.

many are opposed to the way the organization performs the memorial because of restrictive rules as to who should partake.

Do you think the org will change its stance as to only "anointed" ones partaking?

If they are serious about going mainstream, they will have to do this. I think though that there is a way to maintain the two classes doctrines whilst doing this. And of course they will expressly forbid worldly, inactive and spiritually weak people from partaking.

It’s really a no-brainer at this point. People who have been told it was forbidden for a long time will be excited to partake, will feel closer to God and thank the organisation for it.

Didn't he also get pissed when he found out they were all sharing one copy of the book rather than paying for their own individual copies, or something like that? If I'm not mistaken, he not only didn't pay them but expected them to buy a book that they would translate for free.

He had several Spanish translators from various countries and backgrounds devoted to particular chapters. He sent them only the chapters they were assigned, not the whole book. The fellow from Hermosillo recognised this was an unprofessional arrangement, especially considering the various dialects involved and sought out the full PDF and worked on some more chapters with the intention of submitting them to Lloyd for publication. (Regarding dialects, a person from Hermosillo would speak the Norteño dialect - also known as “Tex-Mex”, which due to geographical considerations has a lot of English loanwords that would be uncommon, indeed incomprehensible for many other Spanish readers). Lloyd found out through one of the other translators and demanded to know where he had obtained the full PDF. He threatened to sue him if he did not divulge the source. When this person hedged, Lloyd pasted the IP details associated with this man and made the point that he knew who he was based on his location in Hermosillo.

Anyway, it was a long back and forth on a Spanish language forum that I wish I had screengrabbed but now is unavailable. In addition to threatening a lawsuit against both the translator and the source of the PDF, Lloyd in dramatic fashion sacked the man from Hermosillo and demanded all materials back, including the chapter, the unauthorised PDF and all work he had done. He also demanded financial recompense for the alleged violation of copyright.

All this right after he went so publicly after Deborah Dykstra for enforcing her copyright against him. So count me as unimpressed when he started his own lawsuit against the M7. Using threats of lawsuits is his standard operating procedure. He’s probably threatened his wife in their divorce case with making the case that she defamed him and contributed to financial loss by releasing all those pics and emails to other parties.

Speaking of costs, what the hell did he need fundraiser for?

That was for an initial print run that he wanted funded. They arrived in the UK and there’s a video somewhere of him in his ill-fitting jeans where you can almost see his ass helping the driver unload the pallet. He shipped some from the UK and others from Croatia after signing them, personal message or whatever the pre-order customer wanted. Interestingly he left a good chunk of these books in Jill Adams’ garage and she held onto them for years. After coming out against him she demanded he either claim the books himself or have someone pick them up on his behalf. She wasn’t being mean either, he had like 6 months to do it, never returned her msgs and she ended up binning them. She had to clear them out as she was moving.

As it doesn’t take $20K to print a pallet’s worth of books, Lloyd did what he always does and pocketed the money. The very fact that he was evidently OK with Jill disposing his books would indicate he didn’t put that much of the $20K into them. Still - it’s yet another example of him not giving a fuck about donation money and how it is spent being that some of it now occupies a British landfill.

Why not in spanish?

Spanish or French would do. Spanish because of the huge JW population in Latin America, and French is the lingua franca for large swaths of western and central Africa - a region where JWs have experienced growth.

But he fucked up the Spanish translation effort by distrusting the volunteer translators and doxxing the unfortunate gentleman in Hermosillo, Mexico who went ahead of ~~the organisation~~ Lloyd.

The Occam’s Razor answer is that of his remaining followers, the only one willing to do a translation for free was capable only in German.

A good rule of thumb when trying to determine the whys with Jabba the Hutt - follow the money. Unless someone pops up and volunteers to do it for free in Spanish, Portuguese or French - someone he absolutely trusts - he’s not doing any language that would require him to pay the translator.

I am probably not the best source on this, but my understanding is that sexting is in the grey area above masturbation/porn but well short of adultery. If he says it was a “series” of JCs, my money is on them getting one heavily sanitised version from him, and then a more comprehensive one from his wife. The follow-up ones were their attempts to beat the full truth out of him.

Maybe a former elder can answer this for me, but wouldn’t they be obligated to meet with Dijana, especially since it had to do with infidelity?

Based on how long of a process this was, it’s more to do with adultery than online flirtations.

Re: The need for an editor of TRA.

There was an “editorial team” he named at the time. It consisted of Covert Fade, Mark O’Donnell and Kim O’Donnell(!). There were a couple others, but those were the names that stuck out.

Nothing personal against the O’Donnells and CF, but what editorial qualifications do they have besides being able to comprehend English and being exJWs? Being sycophants of his at the time, it was unlikely they were going to ever give Lloyd the advice he desperately needed. I actually spoke to O’Donnell under a burner account and he was going on about how earth shattering Lloyd’s memoir was in the first draft.

He seriously needs an editor to take an axe to that monster.

Like a poorly written and directed movie, the book lacked any strategic pace and felt like it were three clumsy attempts at books that were then blended together at the last minute. It was clear he began that project with a straight-up memoir in mind in the first few chapters, then pivoted to doctrinal rebuttals in the next few, then devoted the final chapters to more recent events in his life and within the organisation.

Then, as the book had long since stagnated, he inexplicably starts relaying the personal stories that a couple of his followers related to him.

If I were editing it, I would have told him to drop the explicit sexual details and keep that section brief and to the point, reduce the doctrinal rebuttals and attempt to cleverly weave them into his personal narrative instead of devoting chapters to it, drop the sanctimonious re-write of the letter to mum, the Christmas tree humping and the stories his followers wrote for him.

Even then it would have still had been a fairly mediocre product. He’s a blogger, not a writer, and it shows.

Perhaps that was stated at a time prior to him realising that it was financially lucrative?

I have reasons to believe that is precisely what happened. It began with grateful exJWs taking pity upon him and his young family's financial situation and taking them on trips, even building their attic flat for them. The baby shower was a revelation to him in that he actually had to tell people to stop sending them gifts.

If people are willing to pay money for building supplies and baby gifts, all in gratitude for the videos he made, why can't they start sending money?

That's what happened. It was too lucrative to pass up on, especially for a man who was and is averse to working a real job and wanted to become his own boss, deciding when to work and for how long. The Australia trip I'll never fully comprehend how people donating to him for the trip whilst also keeping up their Patreon pledges at the same time appeared to not see any correlation with how the JWs operate - especially with the convention arrangement. From the few I spoke to afterwards, they seemed to have buyer's remorse after meeting their hero in person and how self-infatuated he was. He wasn't capable of carrying on a normal conversation between friends, but rather one of self-promotion. I think that was the peak of grifting abilities and he had to have come home satisfied that it was all comped and hardly a cent had to come out of his personal stash.

Staying this long in exJW activism was never his long term plan. I think he felt that his book would catapult him into the realm of writers and commentators, and he'd be a regular guest on news outlets talking about religious and political matters.

you start growing it in the fall, keep your chin warm in the winter, and then shave it off for warm weather.

at least that's how it works in my household and in the northern hemisphere where the gb are.. i have the sneaking suspicion that there is going to be a steep learning curve for many.. will they know to trim it along their jawbone properly?

There's a lot not only in that livestream but in statements he's made over the years that he's unintentionally revealed there is more to what he is telling us.

With that in mind, check out footnote #97 in TRA regarding the first JC:

When preparing this chapter I came across the letters and emails I sent to Wilmslow and Bramhall elders over this period, which are still on my hard drive and now make for disturbing reading. The tone is self-abasing as I prostrate myself, scrambling to avoid disfellowshipping at a time when rescuing my marriage should have been my only concern. It is obvious that I was a completely different, more servile person than I am now, and acting under powerful forces I was then unable to comprehend.

Does this sound like he only got caught sexting? Multiple "letters and emails" to elders in two congregations? He makes it clear he wanted to avoid DFing more so than his marriage crumbling, probably because he knew he could manipulate his wife. All of this over sexting?

But the parent passage in his book seemingly contradicts this:

In a series of disciplinary meetings before a “judicial committee” comprised of three elders I was asked to go into extremely intimate detail regarding the nature of my online encounters, what precisely these involved, with whom and how often. [96] These hearings were extremely emotional. I recall breaking down in tears on at least one occasion. At the time I did not feel the nature of questioning was overly invasive or inappropriate. I believed I was receiving needed discipline from God’s organization, and I simply had to man up and see it through for the benefit of my marriage. Of course, I now cringe at the thought of sharing such personal matters with men who had no more right to this information than my local postman or storekeeper, but at the time I was convinced it was necessary. [97]

In this passage he thought coming clean to the elders would save his marriage! Which one is it?!

So we know that it was a "series" of JCs with elders from both Wilmslow and Bramhall congregations. All due to at least two instances of sexting? The level of detail and the hoops he had to jump through doesn't match the crime of sexting.

It would however match the crime of an actual physical encounter with one or more of his chat victims.

This has happened before. If this number holds until EOM, he's looking at roughly -10 again. He's treading water at this point assuming he's going to keep these patterns.

This is not enough to retire on which is what he wants to do. The chances are decent that we'll see a wrinkled up prune face complete with jowls going on about how much JWs have changed since "back in my day". If I were him I'd worry about whether he qualifies for a Croatian pension or not.
